The King Hussein Foundation/ Institute For Family Health is looking to recruit a Speech Therapist (Fixed Term Project):
Location: East Amman
Job Purpose:
Working on implementing Treatment sessions, following participation in the assessment process with a speech and language specialist, and participating in the implementation of the Early Intervention Program (EIP) for children under six years old. This involves identifying the child’s strengths and weaknesses and areas of developmental and functional deficiencies in speech and language, based on the results of comprehensive assessment. Additionally, monitoring the progress of the therapeutic plan and the child’s development through the sessions they receive.
Major Responsibilities:
-Implementing treatment sessions for children diagnosed with speech and language disorders across various developmental disorders, as assessed by a speech and language specialist, within the
classifications issued by the Assessment and Diagnosis Department. These include phonological/speech disorders, language disorders, language delay, and fluency disorders.
-Documenting cases and retaining records of clients: technical reports and any subsequent actions taken, and electronic documentation through input into the system in addition to technical documentation of sessions in newly developed special education forms at the Child Development Unit.
-Working on involving parents in implementing therapeutic plans by equipping them with tasks and skills required by parents, and documenting this through the Family Involvement form. Providing guidance, education, and counseling to the patient and their family regarding the implementation of the treatment plan and approved methods.
-Coordinating appointments for referred children in collaboration with the case manager if available.
– Carry out any other tasks and obligations assigned to you by your line manager that fit within your area of expertise.
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Technician.
– Having the license to practice the profession of Speech and Language from Jordanian Ministry of Health.
Skills & Abilities:
-Good knowledge of the local and international laws and regulations governing the work with children with disabilities and their families.
– Scientific knowledge of linguistic and phonetic measurement and diagnostic tools, including their nature and the descriptive meanings resulting from them.
– Good awareness of the law and regulations of humanitarian and international institutions.
– Good awareness of preparation reports either in English or Arabic.
– Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS word, Excel, etc.).
Language Requirements:
-Good English & Fluent Arabic (both oral and written).
