Employment announcement – part-time English language teachers in Petra
Al Qantara Center for Human Resources Development announces its need to contract with part-time English language teachers.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
English language teachers are motivated to support learning through engaging, student-centered activities. They work with students of all ages– from children to retirees – and teach global communication, test preparation, work readiness, and business English courses.
• Teach English language courses assigned in accordance with the syllabus
• Prepare lessons, including the design of supplementary materials, as needed
• Start and end all classes on time
• Correct homework and quizzes and return to students on time; provide regular feedback on progress
• Maintain daily attendance and performance records; submit weekly performance reports as required
• Provide feedback and reporting to supervisors as necessary
• Attend teachers’ meetings and training workshops
• Assist in outside-of-class activities designed for student development
• Complete timesheet and other administrative records after each lesson
• Socialize with students a few minutes before or after lessons, in the hallways and common areas, to create a friendly atmosphere
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Advanced English language proficiency in both speaking and writing
• Relevant college degree OR a teaching certification that includes trainer-assessed teaching, such as the PCELT, TESOL Cert, CELTA, TESL, or TEFL
At least two years’ experience teaching English (formal and/or informal contexts)

• Knowledge of English language teaching methods, approaches, and materials
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, and presentation skills
• Enthusiastic, committed, and a team player; friendly demeanor
• Flexible, self-motivated, and patient
• Experience traveling/living in an English-speaking country or extensive exposure to people from other cultures and communities
• An interest in continuous professional development; regularly seeks out development opportunities
