Automation & Control Engineer
Job Description:
Summary:
The Automation & Control Engineer will be responsible for the health, integration, and minor development of our industrial automation software systems, primarily focusing on PLCs and HMIs.
This role involves troubleshooting automation layer issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate machinery with enterprise systems like MES, managing software-related aspects of machine projects, and ensuring the reliability and security of our automation software infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
· Diagnose and resolve operational issues within PLC and HMI systems.
· Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, and IT teams to integrate automated machines with various software systems, including Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and support the management of related software projects.
· Review, coordinate, and manage the handover process for machine programming projects originating from external suppliers, ensuring alignment with factory department needs.
· Identify, analyze, and resolve integration problems between different industrial systems and related software applications.
· Design, develop, and implement small-scale programming modifications and enhancements that are not related to the main production lines or core machinery.
· Coordinate and maintain the organization and integrity of machine software databases, including regular backups of PLC programs and configurations.
· Track, manage, and ensure compliance with all software licenses associated with industrial machinery.
· Work in conjunction with the IT team to manage and maintain the software servers that support our automation systems.
· Undertake additional tasks related to machine software as required to support efficient operations and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
· Proven 2-4 Years of experience in troubleshooting and working with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric) and HMI configuration.
· Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
· Experience with integrating industrial automation systems with other enterprise software, ideally including MES.
· Familiarity with software project management principles and practices.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
